New Addressing Standards for Flats

Return to News Items April 24, 2008

Those of you who mail catalogs and magazines will want to take note of the Postal Service's latest change. New addressing standards for flat-size mail (anything larger than 6.125 x 11.5) will take effect next year, but it's best to start planning now.

As of March 29, 2009, the delivery address must be in the top half (when the bound edge is on the right) of all flat mail sent at automation, presorted or carrier route rates.

When the address is inside a polywrapped piece, the address must maintain placement throughout processing and delivery.
