Return to News Items October 21, 2009The results of a study comparing consumer response rates to a range of different direct marketing packages found the following:
- A black-and-white mailpiece with no personal information yields a one percent response rate.
- A black-and-white mailpiece with personalization yields a 1.5 percent response, as does a full-color piece with no personalization.
- A full-color mailpiece with name-only personalization boosts response to two percent - 100 percent higher than black-and-white!
- A full-color mailpiece with deeper personalization, in the form of purchase history, yields a response rate of six and a half percent.
Of course, the ability to personalize a mailing depends on having a quality database, with additional information gathered from your clients and prospects. If you aren't capturing additional information (last sale, dollar amount, product purchased), now is the time to start!
